Certification Requirements

To earn the Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist – Individual (CCTS-I) credential, you must:

  1. Complete the full CCTS-I course within 12 months.

  2. Submit the following to Trauma Institute International:

    • Proof of course completion

    • Proof of a Master's degree/license (or enrollment) in a mental-health-related field

  3. Pass the certification exam (80% passing grade).

  4. Complete the process within 90 days of certification access activation.


To earn the Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (ACCTS) credential, you must:

  1. Complete the full CCTS-I or CCTS-F course, and

  2. Complete the full ACCTS within 12 months.

  3. Submit the following to Trauma Institute International:

    • Proof of a Master’s degree (or higher) in a mental health–related field, medicine, or addiction (or an international equivalent if practicing outside the U.S.)

    • Proof of a current state or national license as a:

      • Psychologist

      • Clinical Social Worker

      • Licensed Professional Counselor

      • Marriage and Family Therapist

      • Licensed Master’s-Level Addiction Counselor

      • Psychiatrist

      • Psychiatric Nurse
        (or equivalent if practicing outside the U.S.; scanned copy of license required)


  4. Pass the certification exam (80% passing grade).

  5. Complete the process within 90 days of certification access activation.

Dr. Robert Rhoton, PsyD, LPC, F.A.A.E.T.S.

Founder and Chief Clinical Officer of the Arizona Trauma Institute and President of Trauma Institute International, Dr. Rhoton brings over four decades of leadership in trauma treatment and mental health systems. A Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, he has directed outpatient clinics, juvenile justice programs, and therapeutic services for individuals and families. With a background in counselor education and a commitment to non-egoic, trauma-informed models, Dr. Rhoton consults internationally to improve trauma care systems and elevate clinical practice across diverse populations.

These Live Webinars provide a certificate of completion, which is an important first step toward pursuing certifications. 

To receive a certificate of completion:

  1. Register and pay for the Live Webinar.
  2. Attend the entire Live Webinar or watch the full replay (or a combination of both). Attendance is tracked via Zoom. The replay will be available 1-3 business days after the live event and can be accessed for 3 weeks.
  3. Complete the Live Webinar Evaluation Form.  


We validate attendance for both live and replay participants after the 3-week replay window closes. Therefore, allow up to a maximum of 3 weeks after the live event for your certificate to be emailed.

Certification Completion Deadline

  • You have 90 days from the date of purchase to complete the certification process.
  • If you do not complete the required steps within 90 days, your fee is forfeited, and you will need to repurchase to restart the process.

Refund Requests

  • Refunds can be requested within 14 days of purchase.
  • Once you open the examination, refunds are no longer available.

Certification Eligibility & Refunds

  • If you apply for certification but do not qualify, you will not be refunded if you have taken the exam.
  • If you apply for certification, do not take the exam, and do not qualify, you will be refunded and withdrawn from the process.

Processing Fees
