Neuroscience Should Not Feel Out of Reach

Many professionals recognize the importance of brain science but struggle to find training that connects complex concepts to everyday practice.

  • Theory Without Application

Most neuroscience courses stop at abstract theory. This leaves professionals without practical tools they can actually use with clients or in their own lives.

  • Overwhelming Jargon

Dense academic language creates barriers. When terminology gets in the way, the real meaning and usefulness of the science gets lost.

  • One-Size-Fits-All Pacing

Rigid schedules and rushed timelines do not support deep learning. Complex material needs space to settle and connect to real experience.

01: Neuroscience-First Approach

Start with how the brain actually works. Understand neurons, neurotransmitters, and brain networks involved in emotion, stress, and regulation before layering in application.

02: Biology Connected to Behavior

Learn how autonomic states influence attention, decision-making, and relationships. Distinguish between state-driven reactions and trait-level assumptions using a brain-based framework.

03: Built for Real-World Use

Apply principles like neuroplasticity, Hebbian learning, and excitation-inhibition balance to interpret patterns of stress, dysregulation, and adaptation in professional and personal contexts.

04: Self-Paced and Layered

Short, focused videos designed to be taken in pieces. Concepts repeat and build intentionally. There is no need to rush or memorize. Rewatching is expected and encouraged.

Schuyler Vink, M.Sc

Schuyler Vink, M.Sc, is a neuroscience subject-matter expert whose work spans neurotechnology, neural engineering, and human-computer interaction. Vink develops accessible, trauma-informed health technologies for resource-constrained and rural settings, with a focus on how tools influence behavior, attention, and the clinician-patient relationship. Through the Emeritus Institute of Management, Vink facilitates Executive Education programs delivered in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Medical School on neuroscience, decision-making, and responsible AI. Previous academic contributions include research on mindfulness and the brain’s attention-control system, neurostimulation trials for motor learning and early neurodegeneration, spike-train analysis, and technology-based supports for anxiety and depression. Across all work, Vink centers functional neuroscience that expands access to dignifying care.

What You Will Be Able to Do

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and describe the basic structure and function of neurons, major neurotransmitters, and large-scale brain networks involved in emotion, stress, and regulation.

  • Explain how autonomic states (e.g., mobilization, shutdown, social engagement) influence behavior, attention, and decision-making.

  • Apply core neuroscience principles (e.g., neuroplasticity, Hebbian learning, E/I balance) to interpret common patterns of stress, dysregulation, and adaptation.

  • Analyze behavioral responses within a brain-based framework, distinguishing between state-driven reactions and trait-level assumptions.

  • Evaluate how lifestyle factors (sleep, movement, nutrition, environment) and relational inputs influence brain health and learning capacity.

  • Integrate a salutogenic, neuroscience-informed lens into daily life or professional contexts to support clarity, resilience, and adaptive change.
